Born July 6, 1988, Kassandra Leigh spent a good portion of her life in Starkville NY (aka, "the boonies"). She knew how to drive a tractor before she even touched a car! Her formative years spent there were peaceful and fun, but also very isolated.
After her parent's divorce, she relocated to Long Island and had few friends. "I spent most of my time at home nourishing my drawing skills and enjoying solitary sports like archery and horse back riding... Along those hobbies, I spawned a love for fashion. Coupled with my scary OCD need to be organized and well planned I picked up a camera and started to take photos of myself everyday to catalogue my outfits and makeup."
For anyone who were to glance at her online portfolio would notice that many of the images posted do not list a photographer as they were shot by Kassandra herself.
After seeing the products and hearing the encouraging responses from my friends and spouse Patrick I started to take my modeling a little more serious. So my photos stopped being snapshots and I started taking the photos in hopes to come up with a portfolio that would really bedazzle the masses!
Her interest in photography led her to her greater love of modeling. "As a model I'd really love to get some more experience working with other talented individuals; be it fashion designers, other models, artists, photographers or more I really look forward to expanding my horizons and coming out with some great images in the process (for both myself and the client!) I would also hope to push this opportunity to later promote my skills as an artist and photographer. But, like most everyone else - I also aspire to become recognized/appreciated in this growing industry and perhaps make some money & friends along the way."
Understandably many of may be cynical of her age, as working with today’s youth can be a bit of a gamble! "However I'll be frank, I'm competitive, ambitious and very determined; thus will not compromise for quality in my work."
In the years she's been interested in modeling, this has been a very large hurdle to pass. "Many people are quick to judge me and my abilities by a number or the actions of others. I have no problem proving them all wrong!"
"I hope to prove a lot of people wrong on the negative stereotypes of the “minor model”. So far, at the age of 17, I've accomplished a lot for myself. My modeling has even been seen in Aprils international issue of Computer Games Magazine, in the Vampires of the Masquerade: Bloodlines article. I've also had the pleasure of modeling for several designers and clothing stores such as Drac-in-a-Box, Sock Dreams and Apple Sugar. In time I hope to do much much more!"
